gentler tides

woman with sword
We all fall down and stand up again

Pick up our swords and brush ourselves off again

We all share this rise and fall

This world, this life, this calling

To a higher plane

Everyone we meet feels this rising tide

This flood and ebb

And though all our tides are discrete

We share the shore.

So stand up from these punishing waves

Pick up your sword

And cut your way

Through the bright and foaming air

To a softer tide

And a gentler day
